General Recycling Facts:

 

“Recycle These Facts!”

-A ton of paper made from recycled paper saves:

-700 gallons of water

-between 17 and 31 tress

-60 pounds of air pollutants

  • Americans recycle only 5 percent of all plastics produced in this country.

  • Americans use 100 million steel cans and 200 million aluminum beverage cans every day

  • More than 30 million trees are cut down to produce a year’s supply of newspapers.

  • Today, almost 22 percent of the glass produced in the United States is recycled.

 

Recycling Advice for Lake Elsinore Residents:

Metals

Examples of Metals that CAN be recycled:

Aerosol cans (hairspray, air fresheners) food cans (soup, juice and pet food and metal hangers.

Comments: Empty excess food from food cans. Rinsing is optional Aerosol cans must be emptied of product.

Aluminum

Examples of Aluminum than CAN be recycled: Aluminum cans, CLEAN foil and foil pans

Comments: Empty aluminum cans, food trays and foil.

Plastics:

Examples of Plastics that CAN be recycled:

Plastic drink bottles, detergent containers, water bottles and milk containers.

Comments: Remove lids and empty al liquid from beverage containers. Rinsing is optional Do not include plastic syringes or other medical products such as pill bottles.

Cardboard:

Examples of Cardboard that CAN be recycled: ALL Cardboard and paperboard, including Cereal, cracker, cookie, shoe, gift or detergent boxes.

Comments: Flatten cardboard boxes and place in recycling container. If the bundle is too large, please contact CR&R for an additional pick-up or to receive an additional recycling container.

Glass Bottles/Jars

Examples: All clear and colored containers

Comments: Empty a liquid from beverage containers. Do not include other glass such as vases, bakeware, drinking glasses, window glass, or light bulbs

 

 

 

 

 

 

Did you know?                    

Palm Fronds need to placed in the Black (Trash) barrel. They are not recycled and are NOT to be placed in the Gray/Blue or Green barrels.
